Manchester United AGREE to trigger £22.8m release clause of Barcelona winger Pedro

Manchester United have reportedly agreed to trigger the release clause of Barcelona winger Pedro, as they look to replace the outgoing Angel Di Maria, the Daily Star report.

The Argentinian is set to leave Old Trafford this summer, with a £45.9m move to Paris Saint-Germain on the cards, the Star report. But, the Red Devils are prepared for his loss after agreeing to pay the full £22.8m which will allow them to talk to the Spaniard, who has also been linked with Premier League rivals Chelsea and Liverpool (via Star).

However, the Star report that the 27-year-old’s current boss Luis Enrique is keen to ensure that he does not leave the Nou Camp until after the Catalan giants take on Sevilla on August 11th.

Lionel Messi and Neymar are set to return to training at the start of next month, having spent the early part of the summer with Argentina and Brazil respectively at the Copa America. Pedro, on the other hand, has taken a full part in pre-season so Enrique believes he will be in a better state than the star pair.

Despite the delay on completing a deal, van Gaal will surely be delighted to get the move across the line. Di Maria endured a poor year in the Premier League, while Pedro will be desperate to prove that he deserved more opportunities for the La Liga outfit.

The pair are the same age, and the Red Devils will still have over £23m to reinvest in the squad, even after Pedro joins.
