Manchester United want Paris Saint-Germain
According to the Daily Express, Louis van Gaal wants to sign Real Madrid star Gareth Bale, and is willing to break his own record to once again, make him the most expensive footballer in the world. The Express suggest that United’s bid has hit the £100m mark.
Despite helping the Spanish giants win the Copa Del Rey and La Decima – with Bale scoring in both finals – during his first year, the former Tottenham winger endured a difficult second season at the Bernabeu. Although he scored 13 times, and added nine more assists in La Liga, his year was deemed something of a failure as Madrid finished the season without a trophy.
However, new Los Blancos manager Rafael Benitez has rejected the audacious offer as he wants the Welshman to be an integral part of his plans next season. Whether van Gaal will decide to tempt the former Liverpool boss with an improved offer remains to be seen.
While trying to convince Bale that his future lies at Old Trafford appears to be a struggle, it looks as if their hopes of signing one of his teammates have been dashed entirely.
The Independent report that defender Sergio Ramos is set to be named as the club’s new captain, following Iker Casillas’ transfer to Porto.
The 29-year-old has been heavily linked with a move to Old Trafford, according to the Independent, but the increased responsibility may convince him that he’s still wanted by the club. It was their inability to offer a new deal that led to his discontent, the Independent add.
