Manchester United have reportedly made a £32m bid for Sergio Ramos, however Real Madrid have responded by telling Louis van Gaal’s side that they want nearly double that amount.
According to the Daily Star, the Bernabeu outfit want £63.5m for the defender.
The Star report that United had initially wanted to use Madrid’s interest in David de Gea to engineer a swap deal. However, the Daily Star previously reported that the La Liga giants had missed United’s deadline to make an offer for the goalkeeper this summer, which may have led to United’s intention to make a cash-only bid. Whether they decide to increase their offer remains to be seen.
According to the Daily Star, the centre-back has been made Los Blancos’ new captain following the departure of Iker Casillas.
However, with the Star suggesting that the 29-year-old has had a price put on his head – hinting that the club have considered selling him – it would appear that Madrid have given him the armband to send his supposed value soaring.
