Manchester United news: Former defender confirms Di Maria interest, but new bid for Thomas Muller planned

Here is Sunday’s news and gossip concerning Manchester United:

Paris Saint-Germain boss Laurent Blanc has confirmed that the Ligue 1 side are hoping to complete a £45.9m deal for Angel Di Maria, the Daily Mirror report.

The Argentinian failed to join United’s squad on their pre-season tour of America, fuelling speculation that he’s heading for the Old Trafford exit, and the club’s former defender has done little to quash the suggestion.

“If he does make a change hopefully it will be for Paris Saint-Germain. Right now we have to wait because there are two big clubs out there in discussion,” he explained.

The Red Devils may be hoping to use some of the money made from the Di Maria sale to fund a move for Bayern Munich’s Thomas Muller, who, according to the Metro, is considering his future at the Allianz Arena.

The forward has reportedly fallen out with Pep Guardiola, which has prompted Louis van Gaal to consider a £56.6m offer.

Edinson Cavani is reportedly desperate to join Manchester United, according to the Metro.

United are apparently in talks with PSG about a potential move, but will have to fork out at least £60m if they wish to sign the Uruguayan.

Louis van Gaal has failed to kill speculation linking United with an audacious bid for former star Cristiano Ronaldo, after issuing a cryptic response when asked about the Real Madrid man, the Daily Star report.

“Ronaldo to United? I never answer the question because I cannot answer the question. I want to,” he said.
