Manchester United plan to act as £85m bid made for Cristiano Ronaldo

Manchester United have been forced into action after Paris Saint-Germain decided to make the first move in the battle to sign Real Madrid star Cristiano Ronaldo.

According to the Daily Telegraph, the Ligue 1 side have made a staggering £85m bid for the 30-year-old as they look to build upon the domestic treble they won last year, and hopefully make a major impression in the Champions League.

However, the Telegraph report that Louis van Gaal is interested in bringing the former talisman back to Old Trafford, six years after he departed for the Bernabeu for a world record £80m (via Telegraph).

As well as having two clubs reportedly keen to bag his signature, speculation of Ronaldo’s imminent exit has risen following reports that he has fallen out with Los Blancos’ new manager Rafael Benitez on the training ground, the Telegraph report.

While United will probably have to make an incredible offer if they wish to bring the Portuguese attacker back to the Premier League, you would imagine that he will not think twice about returning should an offer be on the table.

Despite bagging numerous accolades, and claiming several individual records since his move to La Liga, he has arguably not been loved as unanimously as he was when he played for the Red Devils.

Nevertheless, the signing of Ronaldo would be quite a gamble given the potential fee required for a player of his age. But, if there is one player that is capable of justifying parting with nearly £100m, United fans may well tell you it is Cristiano Ronaldo.
