Manchester United have decided to switch their attention back to Real Madrid star Gareth Bale, after being told that Thomas Muller is not for sale.
According to the Metro,
Bayern’s CEO Karl-Heinze Rummenigge responded to the suggestion that Muller may be free to leave by saying: “Thomas is unsellable. I have a feeling that he’ll never leave Bayern Munich.”
The Star suggest that now a deal for the 25-year-old appears to be completely off the table, Louis van Gaal will turn his attention back towards Bale.
The Welshman endured a challenging second year at the Bernabeu last season, and at times, looked desperately low on confidence. Van Gaal may be hoping that the troubles he seemed to have with the La Liga side could tempt him to pursue a new challenge.
However, the Star suggest that United will have to make a world record bid for the man that Los Blancos paid £85m for in 2013, which could be a problem if the Metro report is correct, and they have just over £70m left in the transfer fund.
