New Manchester United signing admits he’s CRAZY after breaking his hand punching a wall

Manchester United’s new signing Sergio Romero has admitted that he is a bit crazy, after recalling an event which led to the Argentinian breaking his hand.

According to the Metro, the 28-year-old was playing for AZ Alkmaar, when he was so wound up following a defeat that he planned to take his frustrations out on his teammate.

“I remember a time playing at Alkmaar. One day, we lost a match and I got mad. I was so angry with a defender in my team,” he explained.

“But when I was about to punch him, I decided not to do it. Instead of that, I punched a wall three times,” he said.

However, he explained that he was punished for his stupidity, and given a wake-up call by his country’s ultimate footballing legend, and thus, he has been a little more careful since.

“A bone in my hand was broken immediately. I remember Maradona telling me after that, ‘Please, don’t be stupid, take care of your hands as they are your tools’,” he added.

“He was right. So now it can be said that I’m still a little bit crazy – but I’m also more intelligent,” Romero insisted.

United have been able to use a whole range of adjectives to describe the men that have stood between the sticks for them in recent years. Peter Schmeichel’s efforts were often sublime, while fans of the Red Devils will certainly like to forget the terrible time endured by Massimo Taibi.

Arguably, the craziest stopper that United have had during the Premier League era however, was the French World Cup winner Fabian Barthez, who seemed just as capable of something wonderfully bizarre as he did of an awe-inspiring save.

While Barthez made some mistakes during his time in the Premier League, if Romero can enjoy a similar spell at Old Trafford, it is unlikely that many supporters will complain.
