Manchester United have agreed a contract with Real Madrid defender Sergio Ramos, according to reports in Spain.
The Metro suggest that the 29-year-old has accepted an offer from the Premier League side, which will see him earn £39m over five years at Old Trafford.
That means that the centre-back will earn around £150,000 a week. However, the Metro report that a fee is still yet to be agreed between the two clubs.
The deal is however, a lot more advanced than it seemed just two days ago. According to Sky Sports, Ramos told Spanish television that he was negotiating with anyone, and hinted that he is happy at the Bernabeu, which would suggest that these reports of a deal being agreed are incredibly premature.
Given Ramos’ pedigree, it is a deal that Manchester United fans will be hoping the club can get across the line. The World Cup winner would bring some much needed experience to a cluster of young options currently at Louis van Gaal’s disposal.
