Paris Saint-Germain boss Laurent Blanc has confirmed that the Ligue 1 side are closing in on the signing of Manchester United winger Angel Di Maria following the news that the Argentinian has not joined the Premier League side on their pre-season tour of America, the Daily
The Mirror report that the former United defender – who is also currently leading his side across the Atlantic – wants to complete a deal for the flop before they return to France, and will be willing to pay £45.9m to make the move happen.
When asked about a potential deal, Blanc responded: “There is a good possibility, but there is nothing official.”
“If he does make a change hopefully it will be for Paris Saint-Germain. Right now we have to wait because there are two big clubs out there in discussion,” he added.
Di Maria has fuelled speculation that he wishes to leave Old Trafford this summer after Louis van Gaal confirmed that he had missed his scheduled flight from Buenos Aires to link up with the rest of the squad. And while the Dutchman was able to account for Marcos Rojo’s absence, he was unable to explain what happened to the defender’s countryman (via Mirror).
“I have heard he is not on the plane,” he said.
“Marcos Rojo was also not on the plane. He had passport issues. For Di Maria, I don’t know why,” he added.
The former Real Madrid man has endured a torrid time since his move last summer, but it appears that this unhappy chapter of his career is now coming to a conclusion.
