It was at this point last summer that Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers was desperately trying to begin to replace Luis Suarez by bringing in AC Milan forward Mario Balotelli. But now with the window’s closure looming, it is with that same desperation that Rodgers is trying to send the Italian back to the Rossoneri.
According to The
Milan’s chief executive Adrian Galliani confirmed that discussions were being held, but revealed that the Italian giants were put off by Balotelli’s wages (via The Sun).
“There are negotiations with Liverpool for a loan, but we have not reached an agreement on wages,” he explained.
“We want a loan with a portion of the wages paid by us and another portion by Liverpool,” he added.
While the former Manchester City’s man move to Anfield appeared a reckless decision on Liverpool’s part last summer, the Italy international’s form with Milan beforehand suggested that he could be capable of delivering on the obvious talent he possesses.
And while the gamble on him has not paid off, and the Reds will have to take a financial hit on his wages should they want a deal to be done, the opportunity to return to Milan may bring much more out of him and may help raise his value, subsequently making it easier for Rodgers to get rid of him permanently.
