Arsenal have reportedly made an offer for Olympiacos goalkeeper Roberto Jimenez, as doubts remain as to whether David Ospina will be staying with the club, according to the Metro.
If the Colombian followed Wojciech Szczesny and Emiliano Martinez – who have joined Roma and Wolves respectively on loan – out the door, the Gunners would have just Cech to call upon.
Jimenez has a release clause of £4.3m, and, given that he has represented Spain at various youth levels, would seemingly be a decent choice for someone to sit behind Cech in the pecking order.
Nevertheless, should the deal go through, it is likely to frustrate Arsenal fans who have been patiently waiting for their second signing of the summer, only to find out that it’s another goalkeeper, rather than the marquee forward or solid holding midfield player they would have been hoping for.
