Arsenal swoop in with £21.1m bid with World Cup winner’s proposed move to Juventus in doubt

Arsenal are hoping to exploit the current stalemate between Schalke and Juventus by making a £21.1m bid for Julian Draxler, according to the Metro.

The Metro report that the 21-year-old has already agreed personal terms with the Old Lady, but the two clubs’ inability to agree a fee has seemingly allowed the Gunners to swoop in, and make what the Metro claim is the better offer on the table.

The north London side’s bid includes £17.6m up front, with another £3.5m coming in additional payments (via Metro).

While the winger would be adding another name to the most competitive area of Arsene Wenger’s squad, there is little question that he would be a massive addition.

He has made over 100 Bundesliga appearances for Schalke, played in the Champions League, and won the World Cup, and yet, he is still just 21. That should mean that he has the perfect balance of youth and experience that every manager craves in their squad.

And following the Gunners’ inability to break down a resilient West Ham side during the opening weekend of the season, there have been calls for more men that are capable of putting the ball in the back of the net.

While Draxler is more accustomed to playing in a slightly deeper role, he is capable of unleashing a vicious strike, and so, could probably feature in the striker position if necessary.
