Arsenal target Denis Cheryshev tells Real Madrid he wants to leave club

Arsenal and Liverpool target Denis Cheryshev has reportedly told Real Madrid that he wishes to leave the Bernabeu this summer, the Metro report.

The 24-year-old’s desire to move comes after he was told that he was not going to enjoy the amount of game time he craved this season, the Metro report, despite playing a role in Rafa Benitez’s pre-season preparations.

That news is likely to alert both Premier League sides that are supposedly chasing his signature. The Gunners appear to be leading the way, with the Metro suggesting that they have already made a £14.9m bid for the Russian international, which falls slightly short of Los Blancos’ valuation of £15.3m.

The Metro report that both sides will have to beat off competition from Villarreal, who are also in the running. Cheryshev spent last season on loan at El Madrigal and hugely impressed, scoring four and bagging nine assists.

The fact that the winger is surely going to get regular first-team football with the La Liga side may be enough to tempt him to remain in Spain, and ignore English interest.
