Chelsea have been cleared to sign winger Kenedy, after the Metro
The Blues had agreed a £6.7m fee with Fluminense for the exciting youngster earlier in the summer, but were unable to confirm the move until a permit was sorted, the Metro report.
The 19-year-old had taken part in Jose Mourinho’s pre-season preparations, including the Premier League champions’ fixture with Barcelona in Washington, but only after his former club granted the attacking midfielder permission to play, as he hadn’t technically completed his move to Stamford Bridge (via Daily Mail).
It is not clear how the club managed to sort out the necessary requirements to get Kenedy a work permit, as the Mail claim that normally they are only given to those who have represented their national side at senior level. Having only played at various youth levels, it was expected for him to join the Blues’ feeder side Vitesse Arnhem until the situation was resolved (via Mail).
However, it appears that they have now managed to meet the requirements, meaning that Kenedy should now be able to help Mourinho’s men as they attempt to retain their league crown.
