Chelsea given boost in hunt for Real Madrid star Isco as they bring in Croatian playmaker

Chelsea have received a huge boost in their hopes of landing Real Madrid playmaker Isco after the Spanish giants wrapped up the signing of Mateo Kovacic, the Metro reports.

Blues boss Jose Mourinho is eager to bring the Spanish international on board and has been tracking him for some time, but now faces some stiff competition for his signature from Serie A giants Juventus.

Real were initially unwilling to sell Isco and were vocal in their stance over that refusal to do business, but the arrival of Kovacic now seems to have changed the situation drastically, according to reports in Spain.

Not only is Kovacic providing added competition, but Isco is already competing with the likes of James Rodriguez, Toni Kroos and Luka Modric for a starting spot, meaning that the club cannot accommodate them all.

With one of the quartet set to move on, it would seem that Isco is the most likely to do so.
