Telephone conversations with Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho and midfielder Cesc Fabregas persuaded Barcelona forward Pedro, 28, to snub long-standing interest from Manchester United and move instead to Stamford Bridge, The Guardian reports.

The Daily Express also claims that Fabregas’s partner, Daniella Semaan, sold London to Carolina Martin, Pedro’s wife, to persuade the Spain international to join the Blues.

With Pedro’s arrival imminent, Chelsea have offered Brazil midfielder Willian to Bayern Munich and Paris St-Germain, the Metro reports.

The 27-year-old has not impressed for the Blues this season, and now faces increased competition for a place in the team as the club near a deal for Barcelona star Pedro.
