Chelsea make late offer to hijack Man United’s Pedro move

Chelsea have apparently made a last ditch attempt to hijack Manchester United’s move for Pedro by making their own offer for the Barcelona star, according to the Metro.

The 28-year-old looked certain to make the move to Old Trafford this summer after he told the La Liga champions that he intended to leave the club (via Metro).

United had been hoping that he would be able to fill the gap left by Argentine international winger Angel Di Maria following his move to PSG, but Chelsea’s dire start to the new campaign has forced Jose Mourinho to search for improvements to his own squad (via Metro).

And a report in the Daily Mail is now claiming that The Blues are set to make an 11th hour approach for Pedro’s signature, as they will take advantage of United’s feet dragging and use their significant financial clout to complete the deal.

Considering United earned an astounding £44.3m from the sale of Di Maria (via Sky Sports) the club have been slow to get the deal done. The Mail claims that Ed Woodward is confident everything will go ahead after he flew to Barcelona for further talks on Monday, but Chelsea have finally decided to build on the initial interest they showed at the start of the summer.
