David de Gea is set to miss Manchester United’s clash with Aston Villa after he was left out of the squad for the game at Villa Park, Sky Sports News HQ have confirmed.

The 24-year-old was also left out of the side to face Tottenham on the opening day of the campaign, with Louis van Gaal claiming that the decision was made as the Spaniard had not been focused during pre-season and in training (via Guardian).
The latest snub is likely to increase speculation that the former Atletico Madrid man is heading back to the Spanish capital before the end of the window (via Independent).
The Independent claim, however, that the Red Devils are digging in their heels and will not be allowing Real Madrid to complete a move for anything less than their £28m asking price. That could mean that the stopper will have to wait until next summer when his contract expires before he completes his move to the Bernabeu.
Judging by this latest selection overlook, and the stalemate between United and Madrid, it seems that de Gea could be in for a very frustrating season.
