Done deal: Former Liverpool target completes club record £12m move to West Brom

West Brom have confirmed on their official website that they have completed the signing of former Liverpool target Salomon Rondon.

The Baggies revealed that the 25-year-old has moved to the Hawthorns in a club record £12m deal, having signed a four-year contract for Tony Pulis’ side (via club’s official website).

The deal to sign the former Zenit St Petersburg forward could be classed as a massive move for the club, not least because he was being monitored by Liverpool earlier in the summer, with the Metro reporting that Brendan Rodgers actually made the Venezuelan international an offer to come to Anfield.

Rondon made his name in Europe after enjoying a successful spell in La Liga, playing under Manuel Pellegrini at Malaga. He scored 25 goals in 67 games before making the move to Russia to join firstly Rubin Kazan, and then Zenit, where he worked under former Chelsea boss Andre Villas-Boas.

Baggies fans will be hoping he can reproduce his impressive strike-rate for his new side, who begin their Premier League campaign tonight against Manchester City.
