Juventus hoping to move ahead of Man United in race to sign Ilkay Gundogan

Juventus are hoping to complete a deal to sign Manchester United and Arsenal target Ilkay Gundogan this summer, according to the Daily Express.

The Express report that the 24-year-old has been linked with a Borussia Dortmund exit during this window – despite signing a new deal at the Westfalenstadion earlier in the summer (via Sky Sports) – and the two Premier League rivals appeared to be ones leading the charge.

However, the Old Lady have now made signing the Germany international one of their main priorities (via Express), having lost influential pair Arturo Vidal and Andrea Pirlo, who have joined Bayern Munich and New York City FC respectively.

A move to Juventus Stadium would allow Gundogan to link up with countryman Sami Khedira at the heart of Massimiliano Allegri’s midfield. With Paul Pogba also still with the club, the Serie A giants will boast some of the most impressive depth in the middle of the park anywhere in Europe.
