LA Galaxy boss tips Steven Gerrard to manage Liverpool

LA Galaxy boss Bruce Arena believes Steven Gerrard will return to Liverpool to manage the club one day and has revealed that he is already preparing himself a career in management once he hangs up his boots, the Metro reports.

Gerrard joined his boyhood club at the age of nine, but closed the door on his 26-year association with the club this summer when he made the move Stateside on a free transfer.

The former England skipper seemed ready to retire on Merseyside, but opted to open one final chapter to his playing career by heading for Major League Soccer instead of playing a reduced role under Brendan Rodgers.

But despite only recently joining the club, Arena concedes he sees Gerrard heading back to Anfield in the near future…but as a manager.

“His next step in the game is to be a manger, no question about it,” Arena said.

“He’s very studios about what goes on. We talk about what he’s done at Liverpool and we compare notes.

“He’s going to be a manager after he leaves the game as a player. Where that’s going to be, I don’t know.

“I would love it if someone like that could replace me, but I don’t think it’s going to be with the Galaxy. I guess he’d go back to England and then you can guess where he might end up after that.”
