Louis van Gaal wants Man United to sign new goalkeeper by Saturday

Louis van Gaal has urged the movers and shakers at Old Trafford to get the deal that would see Jasper Cillessen move to Manchester United done by the time the new Premier League season kicks off, according to the Metro.

Tottenham are the first visitors of the new campaign, and the Dutchman wants to be able to select the Ajax stopper for the game, the Metro report.

However, the potentially-imminent deal is likely to confirm that David de Gea is set to leave for Real Madrid this summer (via Metro), as van Gaal has already added free agent Sergio Romero to his ranks during this window.

The Metro report that Cillessen could cost as much as £24.9m, making it difficult to imagine that he has been brought in to fill the role of back-up goalkeeper, and thus seemingly paving the way for de Gea to head to the Bernabeu.

Van Gaal has worked with the 26-year-old at international level, and selected him to be his number one at last year’s World Cup, so obviously feels that he is a worthy candidate to fill the massive void that could be left by the Spaniard, should he move on.
