Man United consider late Diego Godin bid as he rejects £90,000-per-week Man City offer

Manchester City has reportedly failed with a £28.1m offer for Atletico Madrid centre-back Diego Dodin, according to the Daily Express.

City are believed to have tabled a £90,000-per-week deal worth an estimated £4.6m a season.

Reports in Spain claim the City triggered the Uruguayan international’s release clause, only to see him reject the chance to make the move to the Etihad Stadium,

It is believed that the 29-year-old would rather extend his contract with the Spanish giants, but Premier League rivals Manchester United, who were also credited with an interest in his signature, are believed to be keen on making their own last ditch offer to snap him up.

United have been known to be chasing Real Madrid’s Sergio Ramos, but have identified Godin as the ideal back up to the Spanish international.

Louis van Gaal has been given a boost in his hunt for Sergio Ramos after learning that the player rejected a £6m offer from Madrid to stay put, but needs to keen a contingency plan in mind just in case the deal falls through.
