Manchester United are interested in making a move for Paris Saint-Germain forward Ezequiel Lavezzi, after their deal to sign Pedro seemed to hit a stumbling block, the Metro
The Metro claim that Louis van Gaal’s first choice is the Barcelona man. However, the Nou Camp outfit are reportedly playing hardball over the move, the Metro report, as they want to keep hold of the 28-year-old for a while longer as Neymar is out for the start of the season due to mumps.
While the Catalan side would be unable to prevent the Spaniard moving if the Red Devils trigger his release clause of £22m (via Guardian), Neymar’s injury should give Pedro an opportunity to impress boss Luis Enrique. With the Guardian previously suggesting that a lack of game time was his main reason for wanting to leave La Liga, a spell in the side may make him reconsider his stance.
Van Gaal seems to be resigned to that possibility, and has decided to line up Lavezzi as a potential alternative. The Metro suggest that United and PSG enjoy a good relationship following the sale of Angel Di Maria, and that may help get a deal for the 30-year-old across the line.
