Manchester United are said to be weighing up a £55million offer for Wolfsburg playmaker Kevin De Bruyne in an attempt to beat cross-city rivals Manchester City to his signature, the Daily
The Belgian international has been a key target for City boss Manuel Pellegrini for some time now, with earlier reports in The Express claiming that they have already had a £50m offer accepted for his services.
However, a report in German publication Sport1 is claiming that United are preparing to beat their rivals to De Bruyne’s signature by lodging a £55million offer to bring him back to the Premier League.
Sport1’s chief sports reporter Christian Ortlep broke the story on his Twitter account, describing the situations as a “poker game”.

De Bruyne endured a frustrating time at Chelsea previously, and may feel that he is not done with the Premier League having rebuilt his reputation in the Bundesliga.
Should he move for the reported fee, it will represent a massive return in Wolfsburg’s investment, after they paid £18m to turn his loan spell into a permanent deal back in 2014 (via Express).
