Man United plotting late bid to bring Gareth Bale to Old Trafford

Manchester United are planning to make a late attempt to bring Gareth Bale to Old Trafford this summer, according to the Metro.

With the hours ticking down on the window, Louis van Gaal is still searching for an answer to the Red Devils’ attacking problems, and despite having just Wayne Rooney and Javier Hernandez to call upon, he is willing to let the Mexican head for the exit (via Telegraph).

The Welshman’s arrival would alleviate those concerns, however, the Metro suggest that Rafa Benitez is still not keen on letting him leave. The desire to keep hold of the former Tottenham man would have increased following his brace – including a stunning second goal – during Los Blancos’ emphatic 5-0 victory over Real Betis.

With that in mind, it is likely that only an astronomical offer would tempt the Spanish giants into selling the forward. But with time running out, United may decide to avoid the prospect of negotiations and make the kind of bid that Madrid simply cannot turn down.
