Man United target quashes speculation by confirming that he plans to remain with current side

Reported Manchester United target Jasper Cillessen has quashed any speculation linking him with a move to Old Trafford by revealing that he plans to remain with current club Ajax, the Daily Express report.

“I, the club, or my agent have never heard anything. As for me, this season begins and ends at Ajax,” he said.

The 26-year-old has previously worked with Louis van Gaal when the United boss was in charge of the Netherlands side that finished third in last year’s World Cup.

Having been van Gaal’s number one at the tournament, Cillessen was being touted as the man that could fill the void left by David de Gea, who continues to be linked with a move to Real Madrid (via Daily Mirror).

And despite the fact that Anders Lindegaard and Victor Valdes have also been told that they can leave the Red Devils this summer (via Daily Mail), there may not be too many United fans that will be disappointed that Cillessen is not on his way.

New signing Sergio Romero has been the man that van Gaal has trusted to stand between the sticks, and he has yet to concede a goal in any of his three Premier League games.
