Man United target set to go on strike to force through Premier League move

Valencia defender Nicolas Otamendi could finally be set to join Manchester United after he refused to train with the Spanish giants, according to the Metro.

The 27-year-old was one of La Liga’s most consistent defenders last term, and as such has been heavily linked with a move to Old Trafford this summer.

His absence from Valencia’s squad for the friendly clash with Monaco earlier this week was noticeable, and reports in Spanish publication Marca claimed that the Argentine international asked manager Nuno Espirito Santo to be left out of the match.

Reports in Spain are also suggesting that the defender even requested to be excused from training on Friday after speculation increased claiming that he was on the verge of penning a deal with the Red Devils.

United have been lining up a move for Otamendi all summer, and with a portion of their transfer war chest remaining Louis van Gaal is eager to spend it on bringing in a top class defender.
