Both Manchester clubs have been put on alert after Wolfsburg’s director of sport admitted that Kevin De Bruyne is considering his options this summer, according to the Daily
Louis van Gaal and Manuel Pellegrini are both reportedly interested in bringing the former Chelsea man back to the Premier League, and Klaus Allofs has suggested that their attention has had an impact on the playmaker (via Express).
“I think some other clubs have definitely turned Kevin’s head,” he said.
“Some huge figures are doing the rounds and I can understand why Kevin is leaving everything open,” he added.
Despite not playing for Bundesliga heavyweights Bayern Munich, De Bruyne was arguably the star in the German top flight last season. His ten goals and 20 assists helped Dieter Hecking’s men finish second in the table, and clinch the German Cup. It is little surprise therefore, that two of the biggest clubs in Europe want to give the attacking midfielder the chance to prove that the Blues discarded him prematurely.
The Express suggest that City are possibly the front-runners for his signature currently, after they reportedly plotted to make a £45m bid for the 24-year-old.
However, given the business they have already done, it would not be a surprise if van Gaal is biding his time before making a stunning offer.
