Manchester United offer Bayern Munich forward £160,000 a week contract

Louis van Gaal is still hoping to sign Thomas Muller this summer, and has made a ridiculous contract offer in an attempt to lure him to Manchester United, the Metro report.

The Dutchman has put an offer on the table which would see the 25-year-old pocket £7.1m per year, which works out at an incredible £160,000 a week (via Metro).

The Red Devils have been extremely busy during this window, with £78m worth of signings already arriving at Old Trafford (via Metro). Nevertheless, the club are still too light on goalscoring options.

The Old Trafford outfit managed to secure three points on the opening day of the season, but only after Tottenham full-back Kyle Walker put past his own keeper. With the side back in the Champions League, if the club want to be lifting any silverware at the end of the campaign, they will surely need to add at least one more striker.

The World Cup winner boasts an impressive strike rate for someone that has often played in an attacking midfield role, rather than up front. During his career for the Bavarian side, he has managed 71 goals in 167 Bundesliga games.
