Manchester United told to pay £35m for potential David de Gea replacement

Manchester United have reportedly been told by Galatasaray that if they want goalkeeper Fernando Muslera to replace the Real Madrid-bound David de Gea, they will have to pay an astonishing £35m, according to the Daily Express.

The Express report that the Spaniard is considering the possibility of handing in a transfer request to force through his move to the Bernabeu. Should he get his wish, and be followed out of the door by Victor Valdes and Anders Lindegaard – who have both been told they are free to leave (via Daily Mail) – Louis van Gaal will have just Sergio Romero and Sam Johnstone to choose from.

While Muslera has proved his credentials as one of the best stoppers in Europe currently – having helped the Turkish side win the league title last season – the amount it would take to bring him to Old Trafford seems incredibly steep, as it would make the 29-year-old the most expensive goalkeeper in history (via Daily Mirror).

And with Romero doing a solid job during the first two games of the new campaign, it seems unnecessary for van Gaal to spend such an amount on Muslera when other areas need more attention.
