Pedro Man United: Barcelona star to complete £24m move on Tuesday and be given no.9 shirt

Pedro will be able to complete his £24m move from Barcelona to Manchester United on Tuesday, according to the Metro.

The Metro claim that the deal is virtually done but for a few minor details, and will be finalised once the Catalan giants get the second leg of their Spanish Super Cup clash with Athletic Bilbao out of the way on Monday. Although last season’s La Liga champions are 4-0 down after a stunning defeat in the first leg, Luis Enrique is keen to use the 28-year-old in Neymar’s absence (via Metro).

The imminent move means that the World Cup winner will be available to play in the Red Devils’ next Premier League game, which is at Old Trafford against Newcastle United. And should he feature, he is set to be wearing the number nine shirt (via Metro).

Although he has often played as a winger at the Nou Camp, the shirt number he is set to be given would suggest that Louis van Gaal plans to use the Spaniard as a striker. The Dutchman’s side created many chances against Aston Villa on Friday, but often failed to convert them into goals. Van Gaal will be hoping that Pedro is the man to give them that ruthless edge in front goal.
