Arsenal’s 2015/16 first-team squad numbers list: Petr Cech to wear no. 33, but no. 9 vacant

Arsenal have unveiled their full list of squad shirt numbers on their official website ahead of the new Premier League season, and unsurprisingly, the big news surrounds Petr Cech.

The former Chelsea stopper will wear the number 33 this season, despite Wojciech Szczesny’s departure meaning that the number one has been vacated for the duration of his loan spell. David Ospina will continue to wear 13, while Emiliano Martinez – who impressed in the Emirates Cup – will wear 26.

Lukas Podolski’s move to Galatasaray also means that the number nine shirt is currently vacant. Gunners supporters will be hoping that a certain Real Madrid forward will be taking that shirt.

Meanwhile, Hector Bellerin’s fantastic breakthrough year last season has been rewarded with a number more reflective of his first-team status. The Spaniard previously donned the number 39, but has now been given the number 24, which became vacant when Abou Diaby’s injury plagued time in north London came to an end earlier this summer.
