Real Madrid planning bid for Chelsea target Alex Telles

Real Madrid are hoping to beat Chelsea to the signature of Galatasaray left-back Alex Telles, according to the Metro.

The Blues have already strengthened their options in the full-back position following the acquisition of Baba Rahman, but still want to add the Brazilian before the window shuts. The Daily Star reports that they have made a £5m bid that was knocked by the Turkish champions.

However, the Stamford Bridge outfit’s former boss Rafa Benitez has also made it a priority to sign the 22-year-old. The Metro report that the defender will act as cover for Marcelo with current understudy Fabio Coentrao being linked with a move to AC Milan.

The deal would be the latest in what seems to be a slight change to Los Blancos’ transfer policy. Rather than go after players that have established themselves at the biggest clubs across Europe, and thus could be classed as ‘Galacticos’, they have added players to their squad that are unproven at the very highest level, but promise an incredible amount of potential.
