Roma make approach for Liverpool defender Mamadou Sakho

Italian giants Roma have reportedly approached Liverpool about the possibility of landing defender Mamadou Sakho on loan for the 2015/16 season, according to the Metro.

Sakho joined The Reds in an £18m deal from Paris Saint Germain back in 2013 (via Metro) but has been restricted to just 34 appearances during that time thanks to a series of injuries and a loss of form preventing him from becoming a more regular fixture in the squad.

The 25-year-old wasn’t in the side to take on Stoke City in the Premier League opener last weekend with the Metro claiming that he has been consistently linked with a departure from Anfield after failing to convince manager Brendan Rodgers to hand him a regular starting spot.

And now a report in French publication Foot Mercato is suggesting that the Roman side are lining up an ambitious swoop for his signature.

It is believed that while Roma are keen to snap him up on loan, they don’t want to include an option to buy him permanently next summer or offer any sort of a loan fee.
