Arsenal have been handed a boost after Schalke manager Andre Breitenreiter admitted that the Bundesliga outfit would be powerless to stop Julian Draxler leaving if they received an incredible offer, the Metro
“I want to keep him 100% but I do not what will happen if we receive a brutal offer,” he insisted.
Despite being a long-time target of Arsene Wenger’s, the 21-year-old had looked set to move to Juventus this summer, the Metro report. However, Breitenreiter cancelled the move, and the Old Lady have since decided to pursue other targets.
That could leave the path clear for the Gunners to finally clinch the World Cup winner’s signature.
While Draxler is most comfortable on the left-wing, he is happy playing in most attacking positions, which would suit Arsenal’s style, as the three men that play just behind the striker tend to give defenders nightmares by continually interchanging their positions on the pitch.
And although it seems like Draxler has been around forever, he is still young enough that he has plenty of scope to improve, meaning that Gunners supporters are likely to be urging Wenger to make a bid that Breitenreiter would deem brutal.
