Despite a stunning victory against Arsenal at the Emirates during their opening game of the new Premier League season, West Ham manager Slaven Bilic remains keen to bolster his attacking options during this window.
According to the Star, Manchester United striker Javier Hernandez is near the very top of Bilic’s list of ideal targets. Having already had an £8.5m bid turned down for the Mexican, the Star suggest that the Hammers will make an improved £12m offer.
Despite an early exit from the Europa League, their victory over the Gunners suggests there is plenty of reasons to be optimistic if you are a West Ham fan this season. New signing Dimitri Payet was particularly impressive during the victory over Arsenal, and seemed to create plenty of chances for the side. However, Diafra Sakho was often working alone up front, and so was unable to always be in a goalscoring position.
Hernandez is one of the best poachers in the top flight, so would be the perfect man to sweep up the chances that Payet puts on a plate.
