Arsenal confirm Jack Wilshere requires surgery and will be out for THREE MONTHS

Arsenal have confirmed that Jack Wilshere requires surgery on a hairline fracture in his left leg, and is set to miss the next three months of action, the Daily Star report.

“Jack will have surgery in London in the forthcoming days. This will involve inserting a small plate in his left fibula. Jack is likely to be out for approximately three months,” the statement read.

The England international has not featured for Arsene Wenger’s side so far this season, and this latest setback will mean that he will not play – provided there are no further setbacks – until just before the busy Christmas period.

The news will devastate the 23-year-old, whose short career has been plagued by long spells spent on the sidelines. The midfielder only returned from a lengthy lay-off in May, and made a brief appearance in the FA Cup final.

His most impressive display following his return – and the one that may have left Arsenal fans wondering whether they may have finished the season closer to Chelsea had he been around the whole time – came on international duty, when he inspired Roy Hodgson’s side to victory against Slovenia. He scored two stunning goals in a 3-2 win.
