Arsenal on alert as target reportedly decides he wants to leave Paris Saint-Germain

Arsenal have been alerted by the news that reported target Ezequiel Lavezzi wishes to leave Paris Saint-Germain over concerns about how much game time he is set to receive over the coming season, the Metro report.

The Gunners were considering a possible deal during the summer window, the Metro report, and while a move never happened before the deadline, a potential transfer is certainly not off the table.

The 30-year-old has found himself somewhat on the fringes of Laurent Blanc’s side this season, following the arrival of Angel Di Maria. He has made just one start this season, and the Metro suggest that the Ligue 1 champions will not stand in his way should an acceptable bid come in.

However, the Premier League side are not the only ones chasing the Argentina international’s signature, with Valencia, Inter Milan, and Manchester United also keen (via Metro).

While Danny Welbeck should be back in training by the time that the next transfer window opens, Arsenal fans will be crying out for Arsene Wenger to add some more depth to his squad in January, having done very little during the summer.

And while Lavezzi is not quite the marquee name that will appease disgruntled supporters, his desire to go, as well as PSG’s willingness to let him move on, may mean that the Gunners are able to secure a bargain deal.
