Arsene Wenger wants Arsenal board to make January move for Real Madrid star

Arsene Wenger is reportedly keen to persuade the Arsenal board to make a January bid for Real Madrid star Isco, according to the Metro.

The Gunners are hoping to exploit the amount of competition the Spaniard faces for a place in Rafa Benitez’s side in an attempt to tempt him towards an Emirates switch, the Metro suggest. However, they face competition from Manchester City (via Metro).

Both sides are going to have to part with a serious amount of money if they want to land the exciting 23-year-old, with the Metro reporting that Los Blancos will accept nothing less than £36.7m.

Despite Arsenal’s promising start to the new campaign, Wenger is under immense pressure to ensure that another transfer window doesn’t go by without a marquee name arriving. The general consensus is that without another addition of the highest quality, the north London side will not be quite able to make that final jump from which they can win the title.
