Chelsea have reportedly completed the signing of two defenders on transfer deadline day, with Nantes’ Papy Djilobodji and Reading’s Michael Hector both moving to Stamford Bridge, according to the Metro.
While the 27-year-old’s move has surprised many given the marquee names that have been linked with a move to Jose Mourinho’s side, it is surely the deal for Hector that will stun most football fans.
The Metro suggest that the Jamaica international is close to completing a £4m deal with Chelsea, despite also being linked with a switch to Crystal Palace.
Despite becoming a full international, and representing his country at this year’s Copa America, Hector probably does not represent the kind of player that Blues fans were hoping for.
The 23-year-old has already enjoyed 11 loan spells during his brief career – many of which have been spent with non-league sides – so will definitely have something to prove if he wants to break into the first-team in the next few years.
