Manchester United have managed to keep a hold of prize goalkeeper David De Gea after his move to Real Madrid failed to go ahead on transfer deadline day, the Metro
The summer transfer window slammed shut across most of continental Europe on Monday night, and it looked as though the transfer was due to go ahead after the two clubs agreed on a deal following months of ups and downs (via Metro).
The Metro claims that a £25.5m deal was in place with Costa Rican international Keylor Navas heading to Old Trafford in his place, but even though both players underwent medicals the paperwork to seal De Gea’s move was not submitted before the Spanish deadline.
Popular La Liga journalist Guillem Balague took to Twitter to reveal the details, stating that while everything was agreed the necessary paperwork failed to emerge.
The documents did not arrive on time!!!!!! Presentation was ready. All agreed. But as it stands de Gea stays at MUFC!!

That means Navas will also stay where he is. However, with De Gea now in the final 12 months of his contract, Madrid will be able to seal a deal for his signature during the January transfer window.
But the big question is what will United do with the Spanish international? They’ve already left him out of all of their match day squads so far this season, and with him likely to be disappointed at how his move has broken down, it is hard to imagine him making a return to the first team anytime soon.
