The 19-year-old has signed a four-year deal with the Red Devils, with an option for a further year in a move which is believed to be worth £36m (via BBC Sport).
With less than an hour to go until the transfer window shuts until January, there may have been some United fans that may have been nervous that the Premier League side were about to fail to get a deal done in time, much in the same way that David de Gea’s move to Real Madrid collapsed yesterday (via Guardian).
However, there have been no late twists in this deal and Martial has become a Manchester United player.
With Javier Hernandez and Robin van Persie being sold, and Radamel Falcao’s loan not being turned into a permanent deal, it was imperative that Louis van Gaal added another goalscorer.
And while captain Wayne Rooney is likely to lead the line, it will give the Dutchman a great amount of confidence that he is also able to call upon a youngster of Martial’s potential.
