The custodian has been left out of United’s squad so far this term amid fears that he isn’t in the right frame of mind to play.

However, Argentine Sergio Romero, 28, knows De Gea’s return leaves him with a fight to keep the number one shirt at Old Trafford, The Sun reports.

Romero has been in good form so far this term, and it would require some effort on De Gea’s part to remove the Argentine from the number one spot.
