Man United hope to pull off January move for Real Madrid target Marco Reus

Manchester United are hopeful that they may just be able to pull off a stunning January move to sign Borussia Dortmund star Marco Reus, according to the Metro.

The Red Devils face something of an uphill task however, if they hope to land the Germany international, as the Metro claim that Real Madrid are also interested, and may be in pole position to sign the 26-year-old.

Both sides may struggle to convince him to leave the Westfalenstadion as he only signed a new deal with the Bundesliga leaders earlier in the year (via Metro).

Despite the doubt that a deal could happen, the intentions suggest that United are extremely positive about what they want to achieve, and the level they wish to return to.

The mooted attempts to bring Reus to Old Trafford highlight the club’s desire to go after the very best players, and work their way from there, rather than starting with perhaps more realistic names.

While that strategy carries more risk, as they may end a window empty-handed, it may pay off with the kind of marquee name that inspires the club back into the title picture.
