Man United star Memphis Depay vows to celebrate if he scores against former club PSV Eindhoven

Memphis Depay has vowed that he will celebrate should he find the back of the net during Manchester United’s Champions League group-stage opener against PSV Eindhoven, according to the Daily Express.

“When I step on to the pitch I will think about when I first played for PSV but the match is a different thing. A lot of people have asked me if I will celebrate if I score but it’s a game we want to win, I play for United now, so of course I will celebrate and of course I will respect PSV,” he said.

It appears to have become common practice that players coming up against their former clubs, tend to engage in a very low-key acknowledgement should they score, regardless of how their spell at their old side panned out.

Depay’s spell in the Eredivisie helped the winger to establish himself as one of the most exciting talents in Europe, and thus, it would not be a surprise if he did get on the scoresheet upon his return to the Philips Stadion.

His only goals for the Red Devils have, so far, come in the preliminary rounds of the Champions League, with a brace in the first leg of their play-off tie with Club Brugge.

And it would not be a surprise if his next strikes came against a side like PSV that may offer something similar to the Dutch teams he tore apart on a regular basis last season.
