Fenerbahce plotting swoop for Chelsea pair John Terry and Branislav Ivanovic

Fenerbahce are plotting a surprise swoop for Chelsea pair John Terry and Branislav Ivanovic, according to the Daily Express.

The experienced defenders are both in the final year of their contracts, and will be able to discuss a free transfer with foreign sides in January (via Express), potentially paving the way for a move to Turkey in the summer.

Just a few months ago, the idea of the pair leaving Stamford Bridge – even with their respective deals entering their final years – would have been discarded instantly following their excellent form which guided the Blues to the Premier League title last season.

However, Terry and Ivanovic have looked almost completely different players during this campaign, and their form has been earmarked as one of the reasons why Jose Mourinho’s men have collected just one win in the top flight.

Their arguments to keep their places in the side were not helped in midweek, as they were both unused substitutes in the club’s most convincing performance of the season.

And while the former England captain’s status at the club means that an exit for another side still seems somewhat unthinkable, Ivanovic’s future looks much more certain, following the reports that Mourinho has already instructed scouts to find a new right-back (via Daily Mail).
