Manchester United consider triggering Antoine Griezmann’s £46.1m release clause

Manchester United are considering the possibility of triggering the £46.1m release clause of Atletico Madrid forward Antoine Griezmann, according to the Daily Express.

The Express suggest that despite seemingly being on the verge of sealing a deal for Monaco striker Anthony Martial, Louis van Gaal is determined to add further attacking depth, and the Frenchman has been earmarked as the man to provide that competitio.

While it seems that the Red Devils may have left it too late to get a move for the 24-year-old across the line, United appear intent on doing everything they can to make it happen, as they plan to go straight in with the staggering offer to bypass any negotiations with the La Liga side.

The former Real Sociedad man has been lethal since his move to the Vicente Calderon, and has given an indication that he is ready to continue that form during this season. He got the only goal as Diego Simeone’s side beat Las Palmas on the opening day, and helped the 2014 champions follow that up with a 3-0 win over Sevilla.
