Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp wants Mats Hummels but may be forced to sign Neven Subotic

Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp is eager to make a second raid on former club Borussia Dortmund for the signature of centre-back Mats Hummels, according to the Metro.

Klopp has apparently identified Liverpool’s back line as an area that desperately needs reinforcements and has made the World Cup winner his top target.

However, reports in Spain claim that Hummels won’t come cheap, and Klopp is aware that he may not have the necessary funds to push the deal through.

But the Metro reports that that may mean that he will turn his attentions toward Hummels’ defensive partner Neven Subotic should he be unable to bring his prize target to Anfield.

Subotic has become something of a Klopp favourite over the years, with the German having managed him at Mainz before bringing him with him to Dortmund.
