Capital One Cup draw throws up potential Merseyside derby in final

Football fans might get to see an exciting Merseyside derby at Wembley this season. The Capital One Cup semi-final draw has been announced, and it has football fans salivating at the prospect of a potential final between local rivals Liverpool and Everton.

However, Man City remain the favourites to claim the cup, and they will travel to Goodison Park to take on Everton in the first leg of the semi final.

Man City defeated Hull City 4-1 in their quarter-final clash while the Toffees had to see off Middlesbrough 2-0 at Riverside.

In the second semi-final, Stoke City will host Liverpool at Britannia Stadium for the first-leg of the tie.
The Potters defeated Championship side Sheffield Wednesday 2-0 in the quarter-final at Britannia Stadium on Tuesday.

The Reds emphatically thumped fellow Premier League side Southampton 6-1 in their respective quarter-final at St. Mary’s Stadium last night.

First leg games will be played in the week starting from 4th January, and second leg ties will take place, three weeks later, in the week starting from 25th January.
